Life is a winding road.....

Let me start off by congratulating Brent and Sara Leach. As most of yall probably already know, you must be a LA Dodgers fan now, because we've got us a MS boy there!! Yay, I'm so excited for the Leach clan. For those who don't know, one of my friends Sara's husband is a ball-player. He recently got the call that they've been waiting for. Brent got called up to play for the L.A. Dodgers!! WOOOHOOOO!! So out to the "land of the beautiful" for them. I wish yall all the luck in the world, we are so very VERY proud and happy for yall!!

Also, my little sister has been so very blessed this year. She has recieved the Lucky Day scholorship, athletic ambassador, and just found out she has been chosen to play in the MS al-star game this summer. Its a North vs South game. We are so excited and Proud for her!!!

On the home front, our house is 98.9% done. There are 1 or 2 very small things that need to be finalized, but for the most part its done!! Our builder decided to wait on my closet and our foyer to be done, because some changes had to be made and he wanted us there to be able to make an "informed descision". So we will finish that up, and my kichen won't be done because I've got to go pick out my appliances!! That's going to be my favorite part of my house is the kichen!! Boy do I LOVE to cook!! So after those 3 things are done, that's it, all she wrote...Casa Del Maxwell complete, and we can go to living!! Also, as it stands right now, we should be doing the "welcome home/house warming party" the SAT AFTER memorial day. So if yall CAN, bring it on down to Bovina!! I'll be posting more when we know FOR SURE when and what time.

Here in Iraq, its been slow and quiet. Not too much to report on. We had a going away party the other night for one of our good friends, and Captain of our sailboat trip planned for leave....I think we may have had a little too good of a time, if you know what I mean. Things are changing over here at a rapid pace. (As far as work, not really the country). There are a lot of people that are excited about change, and a lot of people are not. I've always been a pretty "adaptable" person, so I think I'll be able to roll with the punches, but my biggest problem is not get my IMPORTANT questions answered. There is nothing more annoying than to be told again and again "we will know in 48 hours". Well, not to complain, but almost 2 months is a LONG 48 hours!! But, we are keeping our chin up...we are very lucky to be in this line of work AND to be doing it together. So you won't usually hear any complains from me!!

Today work is going pretty well. Not too much going on. Which, is a little boring, but a good thing! We are down to just about 1 week left of work before we start getting ready for leave. OH YEAH!!

Hope everyone is doing well, and I hope to talk to yall and see yall soon!! Oh, yea...happy cinco de Mayo!!

"He's Just Not That Into You"......

Well Hello there friends......

I had a nice day off yesterday. I got to sleep in, which was really nice--except my downstairs neighbor is a little bit noisy ;-)

Chris and I got to go grab a pizza at the local "Pizza hut". (We actually only go there for the hummus). So while we were driving to go eat, we stopped by a statue and got to take a picture for some Ugandans. (don't really know how to spell that....) They were to funny, taking all kind of funny poses and all.

Then we go grab some dinner. It was so very good. Its a little coffee shop that the locals run. They cook traditional Arabic food--hummus with pita bread, cucumber and tomato salads, lamb kabobs, and chi. (which is like McAlisters sweet tea, but with more sugar and HOT). They also have westernised food like pizza, which is actually really good. So we went and had dinner then went to go get some movies.

Which comes to my title. We watched "He's Just Not That Into You". It was pretty good. I had received the book a couple of years ago for a Christmas present and as most of you know and HUGE Sex and The City fan, so I was interested in the movie. Pretty good for the most part, funny, but definitely a chick flick. I was really surprised that Drew Barrymore didn't have a bigger role. But she produced it so I guess that she had her hands full!! And for those who know who Greg Berneht is (the writer of the book and co-writer of SATC). actually in the movie...well, he does a cameo. He was the priest/preacher for the wedding that takes place in the movie. I won't say too much for those who have not scene it yet, but its pretty cute. We enjoyed it.

Our house is closer and closer everyday to being done. We are so excited!! They are completely done with all the floors, and the carpet in the master bed room. (I call it Chris's carpet). The pictures are unreal...and our builder also says the pics don't do them justice...they are more beautiful in person. I cannot wait!! We are just counting down the days!! Oh, yeah....So, we find out that Mr. Allen (aka BIG AL) has taken up dancing with his new beau Mrs. Jody....interesting, no? Yep, he sure has...I think that is just wonderful!!

I hope that everyone everywhere is doing well....We miss, love, and look forward to seeing all of yall. Take care, and I'll be back soon.

First Entry--May 1, 2009

Hey guys!!

I hope that everyone is doing well. I decided after reading some of my friends blogs that I should do the same thing with my time in Iraq. So here we are. I want to start off by saying that I am the WORLD'S WORST SPELLER, please forgive my typos, and if you have any questions about things over here that I talk about vaguely...ask me when I get home ;-)

A couple of things to keep in mind. I cannot write about specifics. I cannot for obvious reasons give info regarding future things going on. I cannot give dates of travel for us. And if something terrible is on the news...check with me before you freak out. Chances are someones telling a white lie for ratings...so don't be a moron and get upset...call, send an e-mail, and check with us!!

To start this thing off I want to tell a little bit about what we do over here. We are working for the Department of State doing protective services--what that means is, we provide a wide range of protection to diplomats, celebrities, and "special people" that travel, visit, and live in our area- Baghdad, Iraq. My husband works as a paramedic/protective security specialist. He is there to provide care if someone is injured. My job is the hub of it all...not to sound full of myself, but it is. I am a paramedic/Operational Security specialist. I provide radio dispatching for every one that is conducting missions in the Green Zone and out in Red Zone. I have first hand knowledge that VERY few people know about. Its so cool!! It is such an interesting job. I never knew the preparation that goes into protecting someone. Its crazy, Yall! Oh yeah...I got introduced to the new ambassador as "the voice of Baghdad radio". Cool, no?

So that's a little run down of what we've got going on here.......but, back in the states we got operation Casa Del Maxwell going on!! We are so close to having our house finished!! YAY! We've been building our dream home while working over here for the past 1 year almost...its taken so long, but well, WELL worth it. We bought 15 acres of land outside of Vicksburg in Bovina and literally have handpicked everything we could EVER want and put it into our house. I am not going to post pics on here yet. I will after I get home and can take them. We should be coming home in about 3/4 weeks or so. Oh yeah...Chris and I are also going back to school. Another strange change of events I know. With all the free time on our hands, why not??

My latest Louis Vuitton Purchase should be en route to the Davis house for safe keeping until I get home. I am so excited. I got the Neo Cabby in pink mono denim (for those that care--its a limited edition color, no big deal!!) I just have to wait for the wallets to come out in the same color to complete that dream ;-)

And last but not least for today, Last night we finalized our menu for our BVI (British Virgin Island) trip. This trip is going to be SO awesome. It really is. One of our friends from the "man camp" and his girl friend captain and sail their own boat, and have decided to get Chris and I into. So we have a trip planned for sailing in the British Virgin Islands, how cool!! Got to get my white butt in the tanning bed as soon as I get home.

I hope yall are all doing well. I will be back soon!
